I was born In Bernalillo, NM but have lived most of my life in El Paso. I had the opportunity to live in San Jose, California for a year and there I gained my first working experience in the Veterinary field. I worked for a Veterinary Clinic, starting out as a kennel assistant part time on weekday afternoons and weekends. I then was able to move up to a Veterinary assistant. What started out as a means of "paying rent" went on to be more than just a job, it became my profession. When I moved back to El Paso, I got a job with the Animal Emergency Center working the graveyard shift, monitoring hospitalized patients and treating emergency cases. I then was hired to work for Dr. Starr and Paws N Hooves Mobile Vet Services where I gained the knowledge and experience that have set the course for where I am now in my career. When I'm not working, I enjoy hiking, running in the mountains and bird watching. I especially enjoy bird watching in the fall when the migration is in full force. I also enjoy taking trips out of town as often as I can.
I tell my husband if I won a million dollars, I would buy land and open a rescue to save all the sick and homeless animals. I have always had a love for animals since I was a little girl, from hermit crabs to kitty cats. I really do have a strong passion to help all the animals possible. It is an honor to work for the clinic and be around all the wonderful staff members. I look forward going to work each day and helping put a smile on the faces of our clients and their pets. Helping them when in need.
I have a degree in business administration with a certification in Human Resources and last year I made the decision to change my career path after 20 years in the business field to doing what I have always wanted to do; help care for animals. I am currently pursing my associates degree to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician and possibly continue my education in receiving a bachelors’ in veterinary technology.
I have 5 dogs and 2 fish. We have a beagle, Chihuahua, Labrador, Poogle (beagle mixed with poodle) and a Jack-N-The Box (Jack Russell mixed with a boxer). My husband and I will sometimes babysit my daughter's dog or my son's bunny. On my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids going camping and to the movies. I LOVE to cook and bake and make creative decorations like homecoming mums.
I love helping my fellow animal companions, as well as, my fellow man. Working here at Mesa Veterinary Clinic has allowed me to do both at the same time. I know that they are just more than pets they are FAMILY. I have two large dogs, Thumper and Floyd. I love them as if they are my children. They love being outdoors by the lake and hiking through the mountains. I love my job because I love to make a difference in patients lives; seeing a patient's health improve and watching the clients reaction to their loved one feeling better is extremely rewarding. The unpredictably of each day allows me step up to the challenge and learn from new experiences.
I am originally from California but have live all over the world, most recently in Kenya, Africa. I have worked in the animal field for the last 10 years in zoo's, sanctuaries and clinics. I have worked with animals as big as giraffe/rhinos and as small as hedgehogs/snakes. I came to El Paso to follow my passion and find a home. I grew up in a rural farm town and around zoo's which is where my love for animals come from. I have always worked in the animal field and would not have it any other way.
I was born and raised in Colorado where I started my veterinary career in high school as a kennel attendant and attended Front Range Community College completing the Certified Veterinary Assistance course. After that I moved to Virginia where I continued my career in the animal care field in several positions including Veterinary Assistant, Customer Service Representative, Animal Control Officer, and office manager. I've worked in primary care practices, as well as, specialty hospitals and shelters and LOVE every minute of it. I recently moved to El Paso and am really enjoying the wonderful people and food! I have one Chihuahua at home that I adopted from the El Paso Animal Shelter who completely runs my life.
I love all types of animals, and I've wanted to work in the veterinary field for as long as I can remember. My mother loves telling the story of how for my third birthday, I asked for a cow! I'm still waiting on that cow. For now I have two dogs, two cats, a turtle, and a parakeet who loves to sing. I love working at Mesa Veterinary Clinic because I know how much it's possible to really love an animal, and I want to help them live the longest and healthiest lives possible, which means you have more time to spend together!
